Driving school is an important part of driver education and here is why.
The first time behind the wheel can be a daunting experience for beginners but it need not be. For years you’ve experienced the road from the passenger side and have never been in control of a car at the high speeds we reach on the freeways and highways so it’s normal to feel a little apprehensive about getting behind the wheel.
The great thing is, learning to drive is not only fun but with our advice, you’ll enjoy driving in no time at all!
You should be familiar with the car you will be driving. Can you think of a car you have been in many times before? I can! Your mum or dad’s car! Ask your parents some questions about their car. Find out how long it would take to come to a complete stop from various speeds. When it comes to parking, you need to know the turning radius of the car so you can adjust accordingly when parking.
Just like riding your first bike, at first it can feel like the car is in control of you but this is short lived. As you grow more familiar with the concept of driving, it will become second nature and sooner rather than later, you will be able to judge the amount of space you need to park it without giving it a second thought.
Cars don’t just run on their own, so have your mum or dad teach you how to tell when the car needs an oil change and when the radiator requires water. Don’t forget to learn how to change a tire as well, we all get a flat tire at some point in our driving careers.
As you spend more and more time on the roads, you will get the confidence you need to drive without fear. Drive whenever you have the opportunity and try driving in varied conditions; at night time for example.
As you can see, driving is a big responsibility and there are many things to take into consideration which is why going to driving school is something you should undertake.
